I currently work in the Colorado State University Office of Support and Safety Assessment supporting the Tell Someone program.
Tell Someone Overview
Tell Someone is a reporting platform that can be used to report concerns about students or employees who are experiencing a crisis, struggling with their mental health, being impacted by an incident of bias, or struggling in some other way. Tell Someone works to review these reports and assess for risk and the provide outreach and support to the individual of concern.
My Role
In my role, I receive and review the reports about individuals of concern. I use risk assessment skills while reviewing each report and assess for immediate risk. I then work to coordinate response and outreach to the person of concern.
To support students in crisis I work collaboratively with a variety of campus partners including Student Case Management, Student Disability Center, CSU Health Network, University Housing, and the Student Resolution Center. Through this network of campus partners, I am able to coordinate direct outreach to students to ensure they are aware of the resources available to them.
In addition to coordinating outreach from other offices, I often reach out to students to check-in with them on how they are doing. When doing this I use counseling and coaching skills to listen to what they are experiencing and offer information about potential solutions and resources for support.
