About Me

Joe TinerI was born and raised in Arvada, Colorado. I attended Arvada High School where I was a heavily involved student. During my time at AHS, I was a member of the school wrestling team, student media. I served as the Editor-In-Chief of the school newspaper (The Crimson Report) and the school yearbook (The Arvadan), as well as a director for the school’s broadcast news show (Bulldog News).

In addition, during my senior year, I was fortunate enough to be awarded the Daniels Fund Scholarship. The Daniels Fund is a four-year, last dollar scholarship that selects 250 students from four different states (Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and New Mexico) and allows them to attend college at little to no cost for the student. Daniels Scholars are selected because they demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and a commitment to serving the community.

When I graduated in 2012 I headed to Colorado State University (CSU) where I majored in Journalism and Media Communications. While attending CSU I discovered I had a passion for working in higher education, specifically with students with disabilities. After this discovery, I decided to change directions and begin a new journey into higher ed.

After graduating with my B.A. in 2016 I continued my educational journey by starting a graduate schoJoe Tinerol. In May 2018 I completed my master’s degree in Education and Human Resource Studies with a specialization in Adult Education and Training. During graduate school, I focused my research on universal design and how it can be used as a way of accommodating students with disabilities.

Throughout my time as a student I was heavily involved on campus. I served as a Daniels Scholar Ambassador. I spent four years serving on the President’s Multicultural Student Advisory Committee (PMSAC), where I represented the disabled community on campus. For two of those years, I served as chair of the committee.

Since finishing my graduate school I have worked in several different roles in higher ed. My focus has continued to be working with and supporting students with disabilities. I have developed and implemented programs designed to foster student growth,  to support student success eforts, supported student mental health,
